Panels on the roof. Never switched on.
The install finished, the crew left, and the system was never granted Permission to Operate. Meanwhile the loan payments started. This is more common than anyone admits, and it is fixable.
There's a $149 diagnostic fee for on-site visits, often credited toward your repair.
What this looks like
Installed, then silence
Panels went up months ago. The company stopped returning calls before the utility ever signed off.
Failed or missing inspection
The township inspection was never scheduled, or it failed and nobody came back to correct it.
Interconnection never filed
The utility application was never submitted, was submitted incorrectly, or stalled and was abandoned.
Paying for nothing
Loan payments began on a system that has never legally produced a kilowatt-hour.
No documentation
You were never given permits, plans, or equipment details — and you need them to move anything forward.
Told to start over
Another company said the only option is a full reinstall. Sometimes true. Often not.
What people ask us.
What is PTO?
Permission to Operate — the utility’s formal sign-off that lets your system legally export power. Until it is granted, the system is not supposed to run, regardless of what is on the roof.
Can this be fixed if the original installer is gone?
Usually. The work has to be reviewed, corrected where needed, and resubmitted under a licensed contractor. What it takes depends on how much was completed and how it was done.
How long does it take?
It depends on your township and utility, and neither is under our control. We will tell you what the path looks like for your specific situation rather than give you a number we cannot stand behind.
Start with a free triage call.
Tell us what the system is doing and what you know about who installed it. We will talk it through on the phone at no charge and tell you honestly whether an on-site visit is worth it.
